My name is Arielle. Hello!
I’m a 30-something Brooklyn resident who spends an inordinate amount of time thinking about music. I go to a lot of concerts. Probably more than you do.
This is not so much a music blog as it is a personal blog about music. You won’t find album reviews full of technical speak here, but you will find my very non-technical thoughts and stories about my favorite artists, the shows I go to, the crowds I interact with, and any other random music-related thing that pops into my head.
Want to know the best songs for dancing alone in your bedroom? I got you.
Do you hate the Arctic Monkeys? Me too.
Ever feel the need to hear a bunch of awesome covers of Blackstreet’s “No Diggity”? I’m on it.
And so on. I also talk about music festivals a lot, because, like so many others, I live for festival season. I’ll let you know the ins and outs of all the festivals I go to, how to prepare for and survive them, and most importantly, tips for making the absolute most of a music festival. You’ll probably hear me talk about Electric Forest a lot. I would apologize, but I’m not sorry. It’s the most wonderful of them all.
Though I used to listen largely to alternative rock, pop and mainstream hip hop, most of what I listen to now – and thus, most of what I blog about – falls somewhere under the very broad spectrum of “electronica” (mostly electro-funk/hip hop/soul, but it varies). To read about how I sort of fell down the rabbit hole of this niche music scene, read this post.
I pretty much always want to talk about music, and I love giving and receiving new music recommendations. So don’t be shy. You can also find my more frequent and succinct music thoughts on Twitter, @heyelleforte.
Enjoy! =)
